Common questions

GardenVision FAQ

Short answers about choosing a tool, using AI, frost-based scheduling, local data and mobile access.

Are the GardenVision web tools free?

Yes. The Garden Planner, Garden Plan Analyzer, Planting Calendar, Seed Archive and Plant Identifier are free to open and use. AI features require your own supported API key, so the provider’s current quota or pricing may apply.

Do I need an account or an installation?

The core web tools run in your browser and do not require a GardenVision account or installation. Only the optional Android apps require APK installation, while AI functions require a supported provider key.

Which GardenVision tool should I use first?

Start with Garden Planner when you are designing beds from scratch, use Garden Plan Analyzer when you already have a photo or sketch, and open Planting Calendar when the layout is ready and you need month-by-month sowing dates.

What can I design with the online Garden Planner?

You can draw garden beds on a visual canvas, drag and drop plants, set row spacing and quantities, keep separate layouts, and generate a planting report with an exportable plant list. Designs are saved locally in the browser.

How do the AI Garden Analyzer and Plant Identifier use my images?

An image is sent only when you start an AI request, using the provider key configured in the tool. The Garden Analyzer and image recognition use Google Gemini; Plant Identifier can also use DeepSeek for text chat, not for image recognition.

How does the Planting Calendar use frost dates?

Set your last spring frost and first autumn frost, then organize indoor sowing, outdoor sowing or transplanting, and an optional second crop across the twelve-month calendar. You can adjust, import, export or share the schedule.

Where is my garden data stored and how do I back it up?

Planner layouts, planting calendars, seed records and identification history use local browser storage. Use each tool’s export control to create a backup before clearing site data, changing browsers or moving to another device.

Can I use GardenVision on a phone or offline?

The web tools are designed to adapt to smaller screens, and the Android collection provides dedicated apps for work away from a desktop. Field Mobile can keep garden records without a connection, while weather and AI functions need internet access.
